A look at future filmmaking ….

This one left me stunned.

Sex, Drugs and Rock’n'Roll!

The Hurricane was all you can imagine from a festival and it of course started with the infamous “Helga!” roamings. “Die Fantastischen Vier” were better than I expected. I got lucky and stood directly in front of them … second in line. They also played old songs like “Tag am Meer” I had never expected to hear live. It was a good starter for what was about to come. Right after them I realized the “Beastie Boys” do not make my kind of music.

Saturday, I had not expected Marylin Manson to be a great act, so I was not that dissapointed by his show. Placebo and Incubus were decent though.

Sunday was very relaxing as the only band I wanted to see was “Deichkind”. Yeah, I know Pearl Jam was playing at the same time, however the live show I witnessed was unlike anything I have ever seen: not only did the members of “Deichkind” perform crowdsurfing themselves, they also sent out some kind of giant donut with a trampoline inside and were jumping ON the crowd!

On the Drugs side: we had an ever flowing supply of beer and meat from the barbecue ;)

Sex you ask? Well, she was 80/18 … lesbian … and we had a nice weekend. :D

In summary the slogan “Sex, Drugs and Rock’n'Roll!” still holds.

Yeah, well, maybe not exactly … but you get the idea.

Update: Jack Daniels managed to upload the photos:

The MacGyver theme and then some

I was reading the ubuntuweblogs when a link led me to youtube. From there I somehow found the MacGyver theme in various forms: accordion, acoustic guitar, piano (and one that misses a few notes and ends quite awful I think), a brrrr keyboard, an even more brrr keyboard, a rock edit and a freak show. Oh, this one does not really exist, but it is a decent remake anyway.

A little off topic, but this one gave me a good laugh after all ;)

YATAA!

I really like the way Hiro can express his joy. Now imagine me standing on the balcony shouting “YATAA!” Why? … Well I wasted the better part of the day putting blog-icons or publicons to the right column, even creating new ones for:

Fujitsu Siemens
Evolution
Epiphany
Bibsonomy
Sword Of Truth
Drizzt Do'Urden
Witchblade
Riddick
Spontaner Idealist

Yeah, I know, nothing to freak out about. What I managed to do today was complete the correction of the last piece of documentation I had to deliver before I could start working on my Diploma Thesis. Nothing to freak out about? … Well ok … but I was soooo unmotivated for the last three months that I am just glad to have it finally finished. :)

Welcome back, commander!

Yesterday, I rewarded myself with playing the C&C: Tiberium Wars demo for finishing a first draft of the documentation for my last university project. It is just a draft, but it took me a long time to really put myself to it. I know it’s cheap, but I haven’t heard as nice a thing as “Welcome back, Commander!” for a long time … ;)

Feuerzangenbowle

Yeah! I had a small “Feuerzangenbowle” evening where we watched the movie and also had fun with rum, sugar and flames – it is always interesting to see people reduced to pyromaniacs. Anyway, we had just inflamed the sugar loaf when Maria asked: “So, will I get a hangover tomorrow? I got eleven hours of courses.” – “I don’t know. I usually don’t have any” I answered. Then, in the first scene of the movie where the gentleman are enjoying their Feuerzangenbowle one of them grins enthusiastically: “… and it makes a formidable hangover!”.

The next thing I heard were four moaning students.

I did not get up till 11 o’clock the next morning … a nice evening indeed.

Thanks to my sister…

I wonder why she sent me this cartoon?!?

Wow, what a day!

I started surprising myself when getting up early (considering my usual rhythm 7:10am is early) to actually do a short 30 min workout before havin breakfast with Sven at the university… (more…)

Idea Park at the Expo Plaza in Hanover

Nicole and I had a visit to the Idea Park exposition in the German Pavilion. The idea came to me reading a newspaper last weekend. It sounded fun, but was disappointing. Sure, there were some interesting things … well … I just dont seem to remember them right now … had we been there as children, we sure could have done a ton more things. Speaking of children … beware of parents telling you it would be worth the wait in line for some “attraction” … or at least remember their faces. I might just be some boring show …

Nevertheless, I had a decent time even after realizing we had planned with the agenda of the wrong sunday… oh well ;)
